I have dropped a stitch twice this past week. Realized it right away both times, thankfully, but I have yet to learn how to fix them!!!!

Etsy

I created an Etsy shop today because I’m curious if I can make a few extra bucks selling my hats. It’s a challenge thinking of a name for the shop though, so I told my friends on Facebook to come up with name ideas. If I select any of the submissions, I’ll send them an infant or toddler hat of their choice! This is open to my Wednesday Night Knitting Group as well!

Casting off

I am really getting annoyed with how uneven the top of my hats are after casting off. I want a nice smooth top, and I found instructions on doing a drawstring castoff, which looks exactly like what I want, except it means I’ll be working top-down instead of bottom up. No big deal really. I just, um, can’t make sense of the instructions!

Can anyone explain this more clearly to me?

In other news, I finished the second flapper hat, and it REALLY doesn’t fit my daughter’s noggin. So sad!

Flower Flapper Hat

I just finished a hat for my friend’s soon to be born daughter. I used Jiffy Quick and Easy “mohair-like” yarn in green apple and dusty rose on the blue Knifty Knitter loom. The flower was crocheted using the pattern found here. Not too bad considering it was my first crocheted flower ever! On a bigger hat, I would do a two-layer flower, perhaps yellow and white, but since this is an infant hat, I thought it would be too much. I’m so excited, I love this hat!!!

Top knots, blisters and trying new things

I made 2 baby hats at knitting group last night, but I’d forgotten the smallest loom, so I couldn’t make the ropes for topknots. So those are done.

The rubber cover on the loom “picks” is giving me blisters. No such thing as too much crafting though, so I’ll just have to work through it!

Going to try some new stitches and a new method for closing the top I found, which keeps the hat from having that weird gather. That’d be lovely, except it means the bottom and top are switched, so I’d have to figure out how to finish off the end of the hat. Fun challenge though. Maybe one day I’ll try something other than hats!

Knitting Group

Had a great time tonight, despite the possessed ball of yarn. It’s been rewound/unknotted 3 different times now because it keeps knotting up! Never seen anything like it.

At Panera, I started on a monkey hat for my friend Libby’s daughter, which I finished after coming home. I was still in the mood to fondle yarn, so I picked up a fluffy skein and am making another toddler hat. It’s white with these feathery fluorescent strands all through it. I grew up in the 80s, I have a thing for fluffy fluorescent things, can’t help it!

Maybe next time I’ll actually dig out my knitting needles and take a chance.
